Olivier Masson, president of Pointcarré, recently visited Uzbekistan to explore the world of fabulous ikat silk cloths, native to this province.
Following is a detailed description of how to create ikat cloths using Pointcarre, from warp setting to cloth weaving.

After two years spent in Morocco as a mathematics teacher, Olivier Masson returned to France to dedicate his time to his weaving passion. Olivier started his weaving career with traditional weaving then moved on to contemporary tapestries. He became an independent designer and joined the board of the Brittany Weavers Association. During the same period, Olivier taught intensive courses in weaving techniques and computer sciences. He started programming the first version of the Pointcarré CAD/CAM software in 1985. In 1987, together with François Roussel, he wrote a book called Shaft Weaving and Graph Design. Olivier and François Roussel established the Pointcarré company in 1987, as well.
Today, he is the Managing Director of the company.
