Create the simulation
Pointpaper
Well use the following design as an example. It's a Jacquard pointpaper adapted to a knit of gauge 20.
(ref: calcul MEC, Prise en main maille Jacquard)

1. Simulation without shadow
Select under Knit: Specify jacquard.
In the stitch library open the G20-o4 stitch for all colors. Then simulate.

Select under Pattern: Effects: felt. Felt the simulation (ex : 40% 3/3).
To achieve the chiné effect you must get rid of all the areas that will be with the chiné effect. So do the following :
By using the color target toll replace all the selected colors by the white n° 0.

2. Simulation with shadow
Activate again your pointpaper.
In the Specify jacquard dialogue, as done previously, open the G20-o4 stitch from the stitch library for all colors.
Click on "shade" then open from the Shade library: Knitted effects: Jersey effects: Jersey bicolor. Simulate the jacquard.
The new simulation has the chiné effect all over.

The final simulation is a combination of two simulations superimposed one over the other.
3. Final step
Activate the second chiné simulation, leaving the first simulation open behind.
Select in the brush pattern menu the first simulation and fill it over the chiné simulation.
You may felt again your simulation, or use other effects. For example, shade with the Big strands 3 that you will find in the Effects library.
